intake help!!!!!!!!! Universal K&N users step in!!

for info:

2k2 max SE 6spd
MAF adaptor from eBay + K&N RE 0810
http://www.knfilterchargers.com/sear...x?Prod=RE-0810

so installed this a couple months ago... love the setup. sounds great, and butt dyno is happy. but i also have eibach/illumina setup on the hardest setting, and the ride isn't the smoothest. so my filter is bouncing around in there, and it just rattled my a/c pressure line loose so my a/c is not working any more.

it is hot.

how do you guys secure this sort of setup, (short rams, wai, popchargers) without hindering the airflow? i tried zip ties to my fstb, but no good. any ideas?

sidenote: i just reinstalled my stock airbox (warranty issues), and maaAan is it slow. i want my k&n back!

Got pics of your current set-up? All I can think of is for you to make a bracket that'll hold the filter up, kinda like the one the Berk comes with in this picture:

Its the silver piece connecting the MAF housing to the edge of the strut tower.

Since it sounds like ya don't have a midpipe, you'll have to either find a point closer to the throttle body (like the bolt that holds the FSTB to the FSTB bracket) or a longish bracket that will reach all the way over there from the strut tower. Alternatively, you could just buy someone's used mid-pipe for cheap and extend the filter all the way over to where it doesn't bump anything.

thanks for the reply. doesn't aftermarket midpipe hurt performance? i remember reading a thread looong time ago saying that the stock midpipe was the best.

Do you mean the stock accordion piece? Its really only good for reducing the vibration to the MAF sensor. I don't think an aftermarket midpipe hurts performance by any signficant amt. From what I recall, it was not as smooth of a power curve, but the differences are practically negligible. You can check out Nmexmax's dynos in the Dyno forum to confirm.
