stock 0-60 time

hey guys, jsut a quick question, those stock 0-60 in 6.7 claims from the magazines, were those with the lighter 16s? or the 17s, the reason i ask is because i had 16s and recently changed to 17s and want to know if my carll be alot slower, thanks

unless you're upgrading to some 19x8.5 wheels, I wouldn't stress about your stock 0-60 time by switching factory wheels. if you're so concerned get an intake to replace the tiny bit of pep you might have dropped by switching. but i doubt you really notice any change.

If your 2000 is an auto, your screwed either way. From my understanding bigger rims handle better. There are pros and cons to everything in life. Decide if looks or a tiny bit of performance is right for you.

6.7 sec time Motor Trend got was with 17" wheels. Magazines almost never test stripper models, I wonder what a GXE 5spd with 15" steel wheels would get...hmm When I worked at Nissan, the fastest Maximas from my seat of the pants dyno where the GXE 5spds, no matter if it was a 5th gen or 4th gen. I dunno what the 5.5 gen GXE would feel like- since they are automatics only, and I worked at Nissan when the 5th gen just came out- late 99.

Please.....evo is faster than a maxima, but hardly "fast" in terms of production cars. If you want "fast" go get yourself something with a V-8 and drop an S/C or T/C on it....THAT is fast. I know a guy with a twin-turbo 2000 Mustang GT who pushes aroudn 530hp to the WHEELS. That is fast....I have doubts that there is any evo out there that could beat him in the quarter, and his car+TC cost him about the same as a new Evo to boot...

Everyone always s about Evos and STIs. Over-rated, overhyped.

You obviously never saw the video of that guy with the AMS evo. He beat 3 or 4 mustangs/ cobras, and every one of them was making minimum 600rwhp. Not saying his car isn't fast though.

Irish I tend to dissagree, I live close to AMS and they have a few EVOs making over 600WHP and no street driven muscle car will ever run any one of those EVOs on the street. They have a EVO II which runs high 9s in the 1/4 mile and a smoking hot blond chick daily drives it.

They are rally cars, the mustang isnt, you are comparing apples to oranges anyway. Some people want a pocket rocket thats set up ready to go, and new...a s/c cobra was nowhere near the price of an evo.

I don't know if this is the same one....my friend was telling me about an evo in florida (600 whp) that hadn't been beaten yet. They have vids showing him dominating everyone. The closest thing it raced was a bullet bike. Evo's arn't overhyped or overrated, sti's are in my opinion, the boxer engine isn't so great top end but it does song sick.

It got beat by a old camaro with a heavily built motor and a 300 (yes, three hundred) shot of nitrous. Camaro was trailered to a street race! Same evo stayed right next to an R1 with a 50 shot. Camera car was too slow to keep up, so I couldn't tell

I dont believe evo are overhyped, but WRX are/were overhyped big time..When they first came out car magazines had 0-60 times in the low 5. now they have them more aroung 6 secs. what gives.....

WRX and evo are kids tuner cars. no heritage. i would rather get beat in a real american muscle car then win in a kids car. i would look better driving home

A local mitsubishi dealer told me that most (of his) sales of the Evoloution are to 30 somethings who pay cash. Yes, its boy-racer looking, but no, teenagers can't afford this car, and Ive personally never seen anyone who looks younger than 25 driving one. Nearly all teens cant afford a $30,000 car, or the insurance on it, let alone both. To the lucky few who have parents to buy it for them, more power to them, but they are few in number.

The Evo and Sti are as much, if not more, real rally cars, as the mustang is a real american muscle car. They were built to do different things than muscle cars, its only an added bonus they have the capacity to smoke a mustang on dry pavement too.

If I ever get beat by a stock or Si Civic, I will drive my car off a cliff!

All this talk of the auto's being slow is very discouraging. I've had mine for almost a year now and have already taken a fair share of Honda's and Acura's out. I realize that I do not have a race car by all means, but it's a hell of a lot faster than my 5spd 01 Accord. I think that given the right build up the auto can contend.

never owned a 00-01 auto but have driven one and it was pretty slow compared to my 02 auto which was pretty quick. Now that i have an 03 6 speed it really makes that auto 00-01 seem really really slow..But it was quicker than my 97 5sp protege. I don't think people are hating on 00-01 autos but the truth will set you free.(slowest maxima out there i think)

I'm sure it is the slowest Maxima out there, but it still has potential.

This is my buddy, he is 17 his dad bought him the car and pays for insurance....but here is the kicker......his dad is putting a black box in it! If you don't know what a black box is, it is GPS it has the speed limit of every street in the world and if you go over the speed limit it will send a message to his dad via texted message saying that he went over and how much over and how long. Plus it limits the car to a top speed of 80 mph.....almost not worth owning an evo
