Any suggestion on a catback exhaust?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could point my in the right direction for a well performing catback exhaust. I was thinking about getting a Greddy but I wasn't sure how well it performed. What are some other good options for exhaust? I would totally appreciate your opinions....

Thanks

as far as exhaust goes for a maxima....they all perform about the same....it all comes down to personal opinion on sound....if you want a real good sounding exhaust but don't mind the high price or slight drone...then go with Cattman...I have one on my car and I am totally satisfied...

The two most "popular" choices are the Cattman and Frankencar catback setups. Both offer about the same amount of "gains" as well as dBs. There are actually quite a few options for the 5th gens, but like Steven mentioned, it is all a matter of personal preference.

By "drone" you're referring to noise at cruising speed? I finally installed my Injen intake and was glad it sounds stock at idle & cruise, but growls under heavy acceleration. Cattman (or other cat-back) exhaust produces constant noise?

Having owned both Cattman and Frankencar, I have to say that the Cattman is much louder than the Frankencar. The Frankencar is quiet; almost like stock, but still loud enough to know that something is there. The Frankencar is designed chambered, like the stock muffler, for maximum sound suppression, while the Cattman is straight through. I believe that's why there such a difference in volume (all I did was switch rears, keeping the Frankencar b-pipe, so I know the difference is not in the resonator on the b-pipe).

Here's a post I put up some time back about that:

As for gains, as Tim said, they all give next to nothing (about 3-5 whp seems to be the consensus), so cat-backs are really for the looks, sound, and stainless steel.

The sound you hear from the intake is gonna be completely different, so I'm not sure those are comparable. The drone is a... well... constant exhaust tone that you'll hear in the cabin until you're over 2500 rpms. The GReddy has a LOUD drone, much louder than the Cattman's. The Frankencar has no drone whatsoever.

Btw, there are exhaust clips in the Stickies, check those out:
