Getting the Steering Wheel Controls to work with aftermarket HU

I posted this in the audio forum but got minimal response. Did anyone mod their steering wheel controls to make it work with the headunit. Im just frustrated that I cant use the Trip button. Is it easy to install and what adapter should i get and where?

any help is appreciated.

That's what you need.

I bought one 2 years ago and still didn't put it in. I need to do that soon.

I paid a shop to do it for $45. The installer told me that the instructions showed him how to get the steering control functions to work. If not this is a set of instructions from another member on the org:
Open your dash again.
Look behind the radio.
There are 2 harnesses that I'm looking at.
1 is unplugged and the other is plugged.
The one that's plugged has a brown wire with white stripe. IGNORE THAT. That's your left speaker, negative terminal.
The other harness, a MUCH MUCH thinner wire, also has a brown wire with white stripe.
Cut that off the harness. Now ground the wire.
Trip function returns.
Also keep in mind that you can’t hold down the volume button like before. You have to keep pressing the button to adjust the volume up and down. Other then that he got the track button and mode button to work. But he did not get the pre-sets radio stations to work or give me the power to change radio stations from the steering wheel. Honestly if I had known all of this I would have just got my trip functions to work and just used my remote controller. If you still want to purchase it go to Ebay and get it for $45 plus $5 for shipping.

Hey I saw your stock wheels painted black on cardomain. Looks good. Do you have any other pictures of the whole car like that?
