Acceptable Octane levels for Max with mods

Yup, Gas prices suck and I've been a premium user for a long time. But now, 3.55 pg is no longer affordable. What is the lowest acceptable octane level I can run at without performance and engine problems.

Thanks,

Trex

There were at least 2 threads discussing this recently, do a search for em or just read through the last 2-3 pages and you should find em.

I've used 89 in the past and have had no issues, but my timing is not advanced to 17 like many others here.

I'm very dissapointed in you.

1) for replying to a stupid a$$ thread
2) for using 89 octane

The difference between a full tank of 91 and a full tank of 89 is peanuts. So you're gonna save 1-2 bucks a week. Woopti-doo-sh*t.

I can't afford premium because I r poor college student ...

Seriously, for some of the younger people like me who has to work part time to buy gas...etc, the new prices are ridiculous.

I tried 87 1 time and the car pinged and I could definitly feel the loss of power. 89 seems to be working ok, I started using 89 instead of 93 when these gas prices got out of control.

I like the people that talk about not affording gas and just buying a new car. Sounds crazy to me when you think an extra $40 a month vs. $200-$250 on a car payment plus the cheaper gas. The resale on a 5th gen trade won't get you much unless you're going to go extreme economy.

Yup, went through the same discussion with my friend when he decided to dump his perfectly alright fully loaded LeSabre with less than 100K on it and buy a $20K Corola as a gas-money savings measure. $20K is a whole lot of gas money at whatever price

No, he still doesn't have the car. Why did someone have to die in that car, I need parts.

And for all you idiots, I was just kidding so don't get on my case.

Can someone educate me on the difference between regular, special, and premium fuel? Whats the big diff?

Im serious, I really have no idea besides the fact premium is cleaner?

Good thing I am at school right now and not driving my car more than once or twice a week. I have been at school for a week and a half and still have a half of tank of gas! This is the longest I have gone with out filling up. I will be saving a lot of money by not driving a lot anymore. How much are current gas prices? Being at school I feel isolated from the entire world.

NY should be a bit more expensive than boston so I wouldnt doubt premium to be 379 to 4 bucks a gallon over there.

my friend's aunt from alabama just filled up her escalade. 120 bucks!!!!!!
