All of a sudden!!!

Hey guys, all of a sudden my i30 started making humming noises, gets real loud and starts vibrating the car interior pieces at around 40-60. After I lowered my car, when I drive next to walls, I hear crackling noises, and for some reason when I turn my steering wheel all the way to the left, it clunks and creaks. My biggest concern is the humming, what could it be caused by?

I'm taking my car to my mechanics on saturday because Im almost exactly at 120k, but I want to know a general idea whats going on before I attempt any major fix if there needs be.

My last car, a 93 legend, made a higher pitch whining/humming noise and it ended up being my differential which costs 1500 to replace, so Im keeping my fingers crossed!

Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

Bearings, I think. When all the way turned the noise is the stop bolt that helps keep our steering radius so shiity, It has a plastic cap on it that wears out.

Agreed my guess would be the wheel bearings, if the humming stops when you make turns I would def say it is the bearings

bearings for the squeel, but also check the CV joint for the crap sound when you turn.

It sounds like a wheel bearing issue. They will definately hum at speed when they begin to go bad. They may make the crackling noise, though the noise as described leads me to believe you may also have a CV problem. I would have both looked at.

If you lowered that car...did you put the top hat with the "OUT" facing out--Away from the car?

i have no clue about the whole top hat thing, i just gave the parts to my mechanic. so basically the worse would be my cv boot/ wheel bearing? because I can deal with that haha, not a blown differential anyhow, ill be dropping the car off in a couple hours and by the way i havent changed my oil in 6k but im on mobil 1 syn, shouldnt be in deep crap right?

just get it changed as soon as you can.

you can say you hear it bouncing off of walls and making a clicking sound, which sounds more like wheel bearings than diff bearings. though i guess its still possible. generally wheel bearing failure is much more common than diff bearing failure, usually you have to starve a diff before it fails.
