weird banging sound
anyone with the cattman catback have a banging problem with it. when i hit a speed bump with the back tires it sounds like the exhaust is banging the bottome of the car? is this normal and what should i do. ALso does anyone hear a ticking sound from the piping after high speeds. when i get off the highway my pipe make a "ding" sound over and over again. dotn know what it is or if its normal. Hope someone can help?
The banging may just be that your brackets are losse and you need new ones. the ticking sound is caused by heat, its because you are going at a constant high speed with no stop and go like in the city, almost all exhaust systems do this, especially aftermarket ones.
I had the same problem with my Greddy it is probably the bend that goes over the rear axle, I rigged it by wrapping exhaust tape around it. You could probably take it to an exhaust shop and have them heat it up and rebend it!

I did not have a problem till I put on the HS headers and highflow cat.... the only reason I used the o-ring clamps before was to make the muffler hang strait.
ok so the ticking sound is ok and i can live with it, i have heard alot of other cars withthe same sound, normally i hear it on firebirds and other flowmaster style exhuasts. but the hangin issue and banging when you say the o ring where should i place them would bending the hanging hooks help eliminate the issue with the banging.
I have a 5th gen with the full cattman setup....my problems sounded EXACTLY like yours...
first the banging noise is coming from the bpipe right where the front crossmember is (big black one)....I fixed this problem by adding some hose clamps on the exhaust hangers....it raises the piping a few mm to give it more clearance...simple 10 minute installation...
as for the loud ticking...it is caused by the REAR crossmember (the little one) where the bpipe starts to turn....I simply took off the damn thing cuz the ticking was ANNOYING the crap out of me....and I really couldn't figure it out for awhile either
