03 Maxima clear tail light replacement

It's been a while since I've been on the org, but I'm glad to be back. Recently some *******s thought it would be cool to pull my wooden mailbox out of the ground and use it to bust my drivers side tail light. The clear plastic is busted and there is some slight scuffing around the edges of the bumper and trunk lid where the mailbox also made contact.

Basically I need to replace the drivers side tail light and wanted to see if anyone had any good tips or write ups about the matter. I searched and didn't come up with as much as I had hoped (the how to link was broken) so please bare with me if this is a common question. I'm assuming this is an easy replacement, but I've never done it before so I wanted to ask around. I haven't been on the org for a little while so I may be a little out of touch!

Anyway, I appeciate the help. Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply but I think I'm going to stick with the stock tail light from courtesyparts.com. Do you have a write up or tips for installation? Is it a pretty easy install?

to install, pull your carpet back, un bolt the 3 bolts and PUSH REALLY HARD!!! there is a tar like adhesive that keeps a tight water tight bond between the tail light and the body, once this light is out your tail lights should come with a new adhesive, it looks like a 3 foot long tootsie roll all in wax paper, take this out and wrap it around the tail light and push that sucker in really hard, bolt back on ad your good to go.

If you get the stock tail light from Courtesy, just transfer your bulbs and wire harness from the old housing to the new housing (I think they only sell em w/o the bulbs and wire harness), then push out the old one, stick in the new, plug the harness and you're good to go. Check the epoxy though, if it gets too thin you might need to redo it for the new one.

Btw, check the 5th Gen Classifieds forum too... people sell em once in a while for much cheaper than Courtesy...
