WTF???!!! Need some help with an engine issue

I have an 02 6S with 55K miles.
Yesterday the car made some intermittant sound that sounded like knocking valves. It initially occured at start-up and they went away.
They came back a few minutes later but they occured ONLY when I pressed on the accelerator. Today the sounds are gone but the CES light is on.

Any ideas on the issues or simply run it through an OBD computer?

Could it be injector problems?

Check the CEL at autozone for free, but it could be the coils going on you although I didn't think the 02's were effected by this.

ODB Code P0011

P0011 - IVT Control (Bank 1)

Cam Shaft Actuator Bank 1 - Timing Advanced

that's the read-out from AZ. I wonder if this is covered under the powertrain warranty? Researching a little further I am a little overdue for an oil change (5K miles) and I found that the code maybe from low oil.

definately an oiling issue will cause this. change the oil and see if the problem still occurs.

ODB II Code P0011

Local dealership told me that this code did not exist. When I talked to an actual tech, not a service advisor, he informed me that it is related to low oil pressure. I will reset the SES light and see if the issue is resolved.

Just wanted to update the thread in case someone else gets the same code.

Simply resetting the SES light will not resolve any issue. Just hides it.

I understand that but I am under the belief that the ECU control the IVT and it is directly effected by oil pressure.
Therefore after the oil change I should be fine. Is that an incorrect assumption?
I guess I could reset it and if the problem/SES code reoccurs then I have a true issue, correct?

Check with another dealership because that recall hit almost all of the 5.5 gens (my 2k3 included). I threw the same code and they did the recall. Keep in mind that it's a "voluntary" recall and Nissan didn't send out notices on it to us lowly customers.

If you have a link to the recall that would be great. If not I'll look it up and check if my VIN is included.

i have a VERY early built 02, and it was covered.

have him run a service comm and show it to you.

somewhere on there itll say 'no open campaigns'

unless you have an open campaign, of course.

the service advisor said there was no open campaign for my car.
I really don't like the advisor and stopped going to a particular dealership because of her but she transferred to my current service dealership and now I have to deal with her all over again.

I am nearly 100% sure that the recall for these sensors affected all 2K2 Maximas. You should be able to find the link to the actual TSB for the recall off the first page of the forum under the stickies section.
