how could someone accomplish this?
i was driving and noticed a slight rubbing noise, i checked everyhtingg out all seemed good, then yesterday on my way home it started vibrating, it seemed like my rear left was wobbeling, i craned my mirror and noticed wobbling, so i stoped and somehow my tire place over-torqued or something and broke one of my studs in half and striped a few more,(i have the stock 00se rims with a center cap so it held all the dust and lugs, n stud pieces) my tire was only held on by 2 of 5 lugs, good thing i didnt keep driving.
lucky for me my new nismo studs should be arriving today and the rest of my brakes within the next few. hopefully the studs will be easy to get out. the tire place gave me new lugs as compensation, better than nothing.
how much power would it take to over torque the lugs like that? u think theyd notice.

It's possible to overtorque the lugs. The impact wrenches they use have torque settings. If they choose the wrong setting it can happen. They really should use the air wrench to put them on and torque them with a torque wrench.
Have the shop make sure thr rest of the wheels are correct and have them check the rotors. They could very easily be warped after something like that. They should be replacing the studs and handling any other issues caused by such a bone head move.

Never let a shop use an impact wrench to put your lugs on, request they do it by hand before. Should only be torqed to 82 ftlbs. or so. I had a shop put my lugs on (on an 83' RX-7) so tight I split a Craftsman socket down the side trying to get them off. took it back to the shop, and he said they had the gun set to 400 foot pounds! Had I a flat, I would have never been able to get them off.

I had to replace one of my studs. Its not very hard to get the old out just grab a hammer and pound the old out and the new ones in. It might be easier to take the whole hub assembly out since you are changing a bunch or you can try with it on.

leave it on...
if they snaped from over torque, it would have happened right then, and you should be able to tell by looking at the sheared face wether it was from overtorque, undertorque, or what...
you should have made them fix the studs and replace them, as well as new lugs, or at least taken it to the dealer and then delivered the bill to the tire shop.
dealer should be pretty good about documenting the cause, giving you a good case against the tire shop, should it come to that.

I had it happen once on my old car. The idiot putting the tire on decided to do it "NASCAR" style: put nut in impact wrench, put nut to stud, pull trigger. Needless to say, he stripped 4 out of 5 studs. Idiot!

i have enough issues with the dealer charging me for parts and not putting them on, so far they didnt put on a lsave cylinder and a master but yet they told me they were both blown and needed replacement, theyre my next stop after getting the tire issue fixed. so far everyone that has worked on this car has broken it more so. i think my car is cursed.
