Need Help With Bose Subwoofer Malfunction

Has anyone determined the cause and fix to the Bose Subwoofer cutting in and out? I hear a faint 'pop' when it cuts out. Usually after a minute or so it comes back on.

I searched and found some threads on this topic but none suggested a cause and fix.

Thanks

It could be that you're pushing it too hard. Remember, its a Bose system, but its still stock. I don't think they were meant for thumping!

if you hit it when it goes out it should come back on... that happens on my friends... after about a month of hitting it stays on pretty consistently now... i think it stays on longer when the bass is not turned up all the way... just leave it near the middle. he took it to a dealer once and they told him that the amp might be dying which is a possibility and it would cost him like $150 to send it into bose to get it checked out

'pop' usually means some sort of ground point is not grounded well. check all your wire connections, and take an x-acto knife and scrape all the terminals to get a good ground point.
i had a similar problem with aftermarked subs cutting out. the ground wire connected to my ground screw was not in all the way, and it kept giving me a 'pop' sound every time ground would disconnect.

I keep my bass at zero. The sub gets to muddy in sound if you have it above 0. I don't know what all the fuss is about the bose system i kinda like it. If your rocking hip hop then this system is not the best. I listen to mostly R&B and it sounds just fine. Knock on wood but no problem with my Bose yet...........
