Maxima techs and gearheads, please help me...
i need help determining what is wrong with my car, i will do my best to describe the problem...
it is a 2000 automatic adn about half the time, when i put it into drive or reverse it starts shaking as if the engine is about to die out. when i give it gas, the car takes off slowly as if it has a 50hp engine under the hood... but then sometimes it goes back to normal all of a sudden. gets a boost of power after around 2500-2700rpm. does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? thanks

no, for some reason the MAF can fall in and out over the sensible range... a fluctuation, really.
could also be coils. a secondary ignition misfire will show itself moreso under load, and when you get at a higher engine speed, less load, the misfire goes away and you have a car again.
get the codes pulled

I have a CAI on my car so i really think that it is the maf. i drove with that intake all winter (well, a california winter) and been through a few thunderstorms on freeway with it. i would not be surprised if that sent my MAF south... thanks for the input guys... love you all (in a straight way)

For grins, has anyone ever mapped out the Max MAF curve using scanning software and compared it to what the PCM has?

What?? I wish Dave was my dad, do you realize how well tuned my auto would be!
But seriously, Dave is the guy to call for your maxima part(s) inquiries.

I'm going to halfway hijack this thread because I just remembered to ask this question...does it matter where your MAFS is in the airflow stream? Because I think when I made my home depot WAI for my max I had it in such a way that I had to reposition the MAFS closer to the TB...does it really matter?

edited. intake=intake manifold.
plz dont confuse ppl by calling a cone filter an intake
