How about using the cargo net? I personally keep all my stuff in a plastic crate held on by a bungie attached to the lower cargo net loop on the side. You could attach your toolbox in a similar fashion or stuff it behind the cargo net like I did.

Get yourself a cargo net and some milk crates.

An OEM cargo net will do the trick. I love mine.

the cargo net is great. and instead of a toolbox i have a toolbag. wider base and lower center of gravity. it wont tip over and has rubber feet so it doesnt slide very much. i keep my jumper cables in with the spare tire

How about a trunk monkey?! I hate my cargo net. It always seems to get in the way no matter how I configure it. I wish there was some way to afix a couple small boxes on either side of the trunk behind the wheel wells.

you probably could, at least on the side. get a milk crate and a bungie cord, and strap it thru the milk crate and connect it to the spots where the cargo net connects to, it should hold it tight against the side.

i have the OEM cargo net, balled up in my rear seat now for some reason, and it was good for holding most things, id just prefer a place to put my ratchet and lug key and socket.

I drilled 4 holes around the sides of the trunk and installed some heavy-duty eye bolts (like a pickup truck would use, I guess). Then I have 2 tie-down straps that run between them and hold my tool bag/box in place. Oh, and I also have a G35 cargo net (which is better than the maxima net)....

I'm surprised your POS cardboard tire cover didn't bend/crack/or break like mine did. O well, I guess my glassing project will have to move faster now.

old thread, i know, however..
bottle of windex broke, and the tire cover bent cuz there was some heavy stuff on it. called dealership, it's $108 to replace. so i went to home depot, spent $6.97 for the exact same material and jig sawed it to fit perfect.
nice to have that extra $101.03 in my pocket...

Bottle of juice spilled all over the trunk cover and warped the tire cover, went to home depot had them cut some ply wood to cover the spare, cleaned out the trunk and boxed only the important stuff, shoes, water, etc.

I used some wood blocks, cutting the size that I need, cover them with the same fabric (color fit) use to cover subwoofer's boxes. You squeeze them in order to form a # pattern. I use to do this in my Subaru to prevent my amp/sub to go visit all the trunk when drifting
