Do you think there is room for longer tubes? I have not spent much time under the car in the rear bank area. In the front it seems like we could have longer tubes but what about the rear bank?

Who's car is this going into? Did you guys ever tune the AE that you installed the VAFC II on? What was the outcome?

QUestion:
I have to replace my rear precat AGAIN because its broken for a second time. BUt its underwarranty, however i am getting sick of rear precat failures plus i have a new VQ35DE motor installed several weeks ago.
I have two options:
1. Just the new headers from Cattman - but i am worried about the O2 sensors
2. Get the headers/catt/and exhaust - which will oslve the o2 sensor issues, but it costs a lot more, and I am not exactly sure how loud is loud when you guys talk about this. I can deal with a slight increase in exhaust noise, but with this setup, i mean, will i still be able to talk on my cell?

Dont worry too much about the Front 02 Sensors, They are positioned before the Pre-Cats on the stock manifolds. As for the downstream 02 sensors ,if still have your main cat you wont pull a code. You will need 1 of 2 things
1. A cattback exhaust with bungs for both downstream 02 sensors. Most places will do this for you, including Cattman. Just make sure you let them know you need them. This option requires you to run wire extenders to extend the length of the downstream 02 sensors. Pretty simple, most good mechanics can do this.
2. 02 simulators. If your cattback exhaust does not have the bungs for the downstream 02 sensors, and you dont want to pull a code, you will need to purchase 02 simulators. These attach to the 02 sim wires and send a "normal" 02 reading back to the ECU. Once again, these are easy for a good mechanic to do.
As for Cat-back exhausts. I have the Cattman full Catback. Its a little louder than I like, but it has a nice tone at WOT. If you want a quiet aftermarket system, go with the Franken-Car. It has a nice tone and does not sound that much different than stock, just a little louder. You will still be able to talk on your cell phone with both.
It sounds like you would be best off with the franken car.
All In all, I think headers are the best way to go for you! Tell your mechanic to hold onto the Pre cat and have a look at it once your headers are on. Comare the weight of the precat to the weight of the header manifolds and you will be VERY surprised. Those cast iron precats are HEAVY!!!!
Good luck with the install!

Thanks for the reply. I guess really comes down to dropping almost $2G's (CDN) to get a full exhaust system.
I prefer not messing with O2 simulators, and I am still under warranty up to 160K. The dealership will be performing all the work, so a standard setup is preferable.
The dealership will be ordering a new rear precat anywas I believe... So i need to make my decisiion quick time. My frist priority is having my car run properly, and the extra power will be a side effect.
As for noise, I frakencar difficult to deal wtih. As long as the cattman isnt as loud as my old mazda setup (manifold back system through a magnaflow straight through)....
Lots of decisions to make.
