removing aftermarket wood trim
#2
ooo good question i cant help you but have the same problem, I want to buy a carbon fiber dash kit for my 2000 max and it currently has woodgrain on some places like doors and shifter surroundings/ash tray....any ways the carbon fiber kit covers almost everything but the surrounding area of the shifter.....so is there a way of taking off the woodgrain w/o messing up the surface so i can put my carbon fiber kit??somebody has to know a solution to this......right??

hairdryer set to the warmest setting...warm the pieces and peel them off. And no it is NOT that easy to peel off. Do it slowly and use your fingers to rub off residues. I have heard solvents are harmful for the dash trims' paint. Be careful when you peel off the piece on the radio face-plate.

I would not use a heat gun...just a little mistake will cause more damage than harm. I'm sure you dont want to have a burnt dash. I had my dash kit on for 2 yrs b4 removal...it was on REAL good. When I peel it off...on some of the pieces the trim actually separated from the 3M adhesive tape and used my fingers to rub off. U played it the safe way but prepare for sore fingers
