Read the stalling threads.....followed, but more problems!

I did some searching and saw that my stalling issue is somewhat common. (Car dies when slowing down to a complete stop).

I cleaned the MAF and Throttle Bodies. The car idles perfect now, but when I'm accelerating it will only go to about 5K and then just sticks there. If I get into second it will do the same thing for about 5 seconds, then it will slowly move up.

What did I do wrong?

BTW I did take the TB completely off and took it appart to clean it.

I was wondering one thing.....there is a spring that goes over some orange plastic piece inside the TB....how much tension should you have on it when you reassemble it?

Thanks guys..........I'll tear back into it and fix it.

Do you think I damaged it while taking off the TB?

how many miles, which transmission?

id suspect VIAS and give it a good look over. does it stop promptly at 5K? or does it accelerate slower and slower up to 5?

can you rev it past 5k in neutral with no load?

do you have a vacuum gauge?

i have been having the same problem, it would rev up, but then around 5k it would stop revving higher, and then maybe go higher. it would only do this while in driving, revving in nuetral would let it rev all the way up. I brought the car in for service, got a new MAF, that helped alot, and now it only does it around like 6k. and that is only some of the time
