Air Filter Heat Shield

Air Filter Heat Shield
Hey guys. I've seen various intakes (both cold and warm) that have either a large box or cone shaped device as a heat shield for the air filter. Does anybody have one installed on a WAI setup (not including Injen...yes I know it's CAI, but technically it's WAI) and can say that it makes any difference at all? I have the Monsterflow Air Filter and I can't say that I've seen many shields that would fit that shape cone bc most of the ones I've seen are straight and don't really curve like the shape of the filter. Let me know guys. Thanks for any information.

when i used my berk intake, i used a piece of roof flashing from home depot. they have them in 3 inch which locked around just before the maf adapter. it looked as though it would keep hot air from the engine but in reality probably did nothing. with the temps cooling off, i really would not worry about it. i took off the intake and used a gab/ported airbox setup and it felt great compared to the intake.

I took mine off....
I had a Weapons-R heat sheild which wrapped pretty closely around the entire filter (and I had a ram air hose running into the top). I started thinking to myself, if most of the air is getting drawn out through the top only I might be restricting the air it is getting. Once I removed teh heat shield, I felt like it was breathing better. Now I just run a hose connected to a cold-air source into the top of the filter w/o a heat shield and like it better.
