no, sometimes a heavy plunge will squeeze grease beetween the boot and shaft. inspect the boots by using your hands, not just by looking at them, ck the pleats for tears.

hope this helps

If your boot is cracked/broken, its much easier to just replace the entire left/right side axle. Make sure you get an alignment afterwards so you dont screw up your tires.

it's likely that you have a cracked or torn boot. That is a telltale of sign of grease on it.

i cut mine when replacing the springs last month. over the period of a few weeks there are quite a few splatters of grease on the inside of my wheel, and on various suspension parts.
i wil be replacing them on both sides this week. here is a tip for anyone doing a suspension upgrade: cover your cv boot with a bath tower or somethign when pulling the strut assembly out. this prevents you from cutting the cv boots.
puppet, thanks for the great link for cv replacement, i am sure it will help greately this weekend.

alignment isnt required after axle replacement, as long as its done properly.
