i watched it again and tried it again and it Definetly opens up way before 4*** K rpms. i think whenever there is high vacuum pressure it sucks the valve open (EG when you gun it) cuz at high rpm when i gunned it it didnt open...

Don't do quick jabs on the pedal like that. Get the needle to gradually rise up and see where it triggers.

Yeah my new 5th gen is having the same problem, Everytime i get on the gas at about 3500rpm you can feel a change in it acceleration. seem like the VIAS kick in to way early before 5000rpmbecause it make the car accelerate sooooo slow. has anybody found out what this problem is???? is it the MAF??? HELP and what is a paper test?

Yep that is exactly what its feels like! Feel like i lost most of my powerband. Its pissing me off because it make my maxima extremely slow. I'm hoping its just my MAF so i can replace it with an new updated one.

anyone with a possible vias test could easily see it on a dyno. get 3 pulls with a/f and go from there. this is of course if you do not want to simply open it up to check to see if the cup is broken loose. in this case, the outside function would appear to work but nothing going on inside.

did you check the clock the rod. the cup may have been broken but when you fixed it, the power valve could have been clocked incorrectly.

If you are losing power at those RPMS (3500 +) its probably ur MAF. I used to have a 2K not too long ago and when i put a new MAF sensor in...it was like night and day. soo much faster.

you guys dont know about the paper test??!

crap... the MX6 guys were all over that one.

...meh, anyway...

tear a small piece of paper, newspaper, whatever and put it between the lever and where it contacts the stop, on the IM.

got for a drive, if the paper is gone, VRIS () is activating...

if you think its activating at 3K when its supposed to go at 5K, them you go for a WOT pass and take it to 4200 or so...

and ck the paper. if its gone, something is wrong... however... in order to open, the ECM has to actuate the solenoid. unless the solenoid is leaking or something.

so the VIAS is electronic? I thought it was just simply mechanical.

theres a stop lever that contacts the manifold, on the 5.5 anyway. WOT = wide open throttle.

uses a solenoid to control a vacuum signal that controls a diaphragm that opens a butterfly set.

so its electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical.

the 3.5 does have a vias system but it is completely different than the 3.0 setup. it also activates at a lower rpm.

i just managed to fix my problem. i dont know how, all i did was tkae off the vais assebly off the side of the im, make sure everyhting was workign properly, theres nothing at all wrong with mine, even tho it wasnt worign b4, spun the power rod to make sure it was spinnign smoothly and put eveythignack together, now it works, doesnt make sence, but it works now. also remover the restrictor plate behind the tb also wanted to see if it did anything. little more whislte but nothing other than that.
