Squeak when closing door

Guys, I have a weird squeak that comes from the center of the car when I close the door. The same squeak comes when I go over a slightly bumpy road. Any ideas? It is not a rattle but an actual squeaking sound.

look at the TSB's for squeaks and rattles. It'll ultimately be you that will have to do some work to try and find it. I don't think anyone here can say exactly where the squeak is coming from without seeing the car.

i have that problems also, i tried to get someone to close the door and put my ear to the engine and sprayed wd-40 to the area where the sound comes from, it sound like my radiator is making that noise, not really sure, but the sound went away but it came back again. but it doenst do it as often as it used to, try spraying the wd-40.

i wish i new where to spray wd-40 at. In the 6th gen forum someone said the rear bushins needed to be greased. I am not a mechanically inclined guy so I am not sure what that meant.

the bushings are little pieces of rubber in your suspension. Unless it really annoys the h3ll out of you, you might wanna just tolerate it because it'll prolly take a lot of your time to find the problem, even more so if you're not mechanically inclined.

how about you stop spraying WD-40 on your car.

WD-40 is a penetrant, not a lubricant. itll only fix the squeak for a day or so.

the wd-40 worked for me, well sort of, i used to hear the squeek noise when i close the passendger door, or just over small bumps, after the spray, the noise went away when i slam the door shut, and going over small bumps it was quiet. but now it only comes back on a rare occasion, big bumps but not all of them. so i dont hear it as often. so it did help a alot altough its not a perfect soultion.

Try using the Seafoam lubricant ... in Autozone or other autoparts.

I had the same problem...swore it came from the door. On a hunch I greased up the latch for the hood up on the grille....

problem solved.

sometimes those noises are deceiving in where they're coming from....

+1 on the hood latch. I had the same problem and adjusted the front latch so I had no play in the hood. Haven't heard the chirp since. Closes nice and tight too. Also the bumpers that adjust under the hood might need a slight turn to give a tighter fit and or change the contact spot for the bumpers. That noise drove me nuts!

well i've had two squeaks...the first was from both the front driver and passenger doors' drip strips (the black rubber seals that go all the way down the a pillars) and the second is definitely from the hood, which i think is what you are describing...it's a very high pitched tiny squeak, and it's either from the hood latch or the struts, i haven't determined that yet....the squeak happens when i close my doors or hood, and when i go over small bumps....if i were you, i would just spray some white lithium grease on the latch and the struts...i have no clue why i haven't yet....
