Tinted side marker lights

I have a black 2000 GLE and I dont like the amber side marker lights, but yet i dont like the clear after market lights either. So I was wondering how would it look with tinted clear side marker lights?? has anyone done this, and if so I would like to see the outcome, especially if you've got a black ride. any other input would be appreciated.

Yeah, the tinted ones look hot on the dark color cars, such as black. But, I think they only make them for the front sidemarkers only. To match, you would probably have to tint the rears yourself. I believe they sell the tinted fronts at CustomEnterprise and Ebay.

Night Shades tinting paint

I like the way it looks on black. DIY before anybody manufactured them.

Thanks, wanaMax. I did 3 coats of Night Shades, but in hindsight I think 2 would have been enough. It seems to dry a bit darker than it looks when you spray it on. Post pics when you're done....

As an alternative, you can also just use black enamel automotive spray paint (Dupli-color)...2 light coats (just enough to cover) and a 2 coats of clearcoat. It will perfectly match your paint, and they still shine through good.

probably true, because you can vary the level of darkness that you want, be it a light coat or nearly black (tinting spray i mean, not body colored paint). but there are those of us who dont like doing stuff on our own, so i figured id show them the light. haha. i plan on trying to find a level of darkness that i want, and if i screw them up bad enuff, i can always buy them.

the other downside to the CM ones is that they don't shine red and orange, unless you get colored bulbs, and they also don't REFLECT red and orange (which they are supposed to, to be legal)....

I'm still waiting for someone do body-colored sidemarkers on a colored car (silver, blue, red, etc.) It can be done with the same enamel paint I used. It will blend in with the car but still light up.

somebody do it!!

but technically, if they dont light up at all, isnt that illegal too? since if you dont have head and tail lights that wrap around, you need the sidemarkers? i could be wrong, but at least for me, thats not something im too concerned with, the legality.

they don't have to light up to be legal...just reflect orange in the front, red in the back..

take a look at a new Altima...no lighted side markers, only reflectors on the sides of the headlights and taillights...

they dont sell the nite shades around me, so my question would be what kind of "black enamel" should I use? opac paint or regular paint. what kind of paint exactly can be used?????

I have Sunlit Sand also, and it just looks better with clear side markers. Smoked or tinted ones look better on darker cars, and clear ones look better on lighter cars IMHO.

no, vehicles that dont have lit sidemarkers have the taillight design so that light is emitted to the side, usually wrapping around the car. look at an altima at night, the 'reflectors' light up IIRC...

of course you called pulled over...they are illegal. dont be mad at the cop who did his job and pulled you over for doing something illegal.
you should never have clear ones on a dark car because they stand out too much. that makes them ugly and easy for a police officer to spot.

, i want to get my nightshades soon, but my modding side is sometimes outweighed by my lazy side.

and yeah, you cant get mad at the cop for doing his job, although im sure there were worse automotive crimes going on at the time, but it always depends on the cop and the area.

I tinted my corners also. I feel it looks so much better than clears or stock. Plus they still look and are legal because they light up and reflect the true colors

Because those are only the front set, and they're not all that dark. IMO they don't look very good on a dark colored Max.

Here are my two pictures of tinted tailights. The front one were smoked clears and the back was just the stock red lights, which shows why it's still red but a little darker. I like, but lemme know what you guys think...
