Horrendous squeak from left front end?!
Horrendous squeak from left front end?!
Symptoms:
When making a hard left turn, such as backing out of my (rather hilly) driveway in the morning, as the left front compresses i get a very loud (think wakes up the neighbours) squeak from the left front wheelwell.
This problem is very bad the colder it gets, if the ambient goes above 70 deg. or so the problem almost entirely goes away. This problem also never happens on right turns. If I hold the wheel hard left on a flat surface and brake-torque the engine, i can reproduce the squeak, but not as loudly.
So far, I've inspected for mechanical interference (found none), and used a needle grease gun to lube the lower ball joints. This tightened up my steering, but did nothing for the squeak. Also, with hood open, if you watch left strut tower mount, the noise is NOT coming from there, but clearly from left front suspension area under the car.
Suggestions on where to look next? I'm not very good with suspension issues.

I have this problem also. The dealer is installing new steering stops next week which should fix it. Sounds like the same problem mentioned in this post:

Thread Update
SOLVED this problem at last!
Thanks to whomever suggested the lower control arm limit bolt bump stop caps.
I put Max up on a lift, and inspecte the lower control arm limit bolt end caps. They were intact but looked pretty worn out.
Using a pair of pliers, I removed the old ones and installed the two new ones from Nissan.
After testing, I can confirm that this FIXED the problem!

You can see from this pic what needs to be done:

I don't think any write-up would be necessary.
