What springs/shocks would you be running if COMFORT were the only factor?

Did a search, didn't find what I was looking for, SO...

...can anyone recommend what the best spring/shock combo would be if COMFORT ONLY WERE THE DECIDING FACTOR. I am not looking for neck-breaking turns, just a smooth ride. OEM the best way to go?

OEM is going to be smooth, but high. I rode on H&R before and it was smoother than my progress. Like I said in another post, tires are a factor in it as well. Stay away from Kumho Supras!

I don't mess around with tires, I'm running on Pilot Sport A/S.

Stock. Any lowering spring is going to give you a harsher ride.

I believe the H&R give the best aftermarket ride. Go with them and illuminas set on 2, that is closest to Factory Dampening settings. Should be sweet

I'm with the others, keep the stock suspension for comfort. Maybe pair the stock springs with illuminas and tune the dampening to your liking.

Definately stick w/ stock springs for comfort, though H&R and h-techs are relatively soft. Either stock struts or tokico hp's(blues); which are basically considered oem replacement for struts. You could use adjustable struts though there is no real reason to pay more if your not going to use them for their intended purpose.

I would think changing out the struts is a must. From what I know, the Maxima is over sprung and under dampened. Illuminas would probably be the best bet because of their adjustability. The stock struts are probably the worst part about our suspension.

H techs are definately not soft. Don't go with H techs if youre looking for comfort.

Alright, so what would you guys think about OEM springs on Illuminas? Nice and comfy?

That's the first time I've heard anyone say that about H-Techs.... I'm interested because I'm considering getting them right now.

I have H-Techs. I think if you've only been on stock before they'll seem stiff. Compared to the S-Tech/GR2 setup I had before though this setup seemed very comfortable. On smooth roads you'll be hard pressed to tell a difference between H-tech/illumina and stock, but once the road gets less than pretty, you may begin to hate your life pretty quickly.

Opinions will vary far and wide, the above is simply my take. I'm pretty picky about my ride, and while there are times that I can't stand the rough ride (in any of Knoxville's 45345930898 million construction zones), I have had this setup for over 40k miles, over a year, and am not looking to change it. For the most part, it's pretty bearable. Just be prepared for compromises and ride degradation.

Same here. Connecticut roads are terrible and w/ the illuminas on 2 the h-techs are bearable. Behind the H&R's and Maxspeeds I can't think of any other spring that is softer than the H-techs. They are definately stiffer than stock, but comparatively they are not very stiff at all.

Thanks for the comparison. I have Illuminas/Progress now (4f 4r) and am getting sick of it, although I know that when I start auto-xing next spring, this would be ideal. I'm pretty tolerant of the harshness typically, but maybe I'm just getting old or something.

As a last resort, I'd do H&Rs, but I don't like the way it looks .

smoother than stock so the ride feels cushier because hp dampen better so you don't get the jarring ride of stock shocks
