I use an FM modulator and its fine; I don't need it to be crystal clear or anything.

monster makes a connection that uses your cd changer input giving you both excellent sound and also controlls your ipod with the factory head unit/steering wheel controlls. Unfortunately it doesnt work with the 02/03 witht he 6cd indash goodluck

I have tried both FM mod and cassette adaptors, and the cassette sounds much better. I ran the wire under the faceplate and back through the dash for my XM installation - very clean. From time to time I unplug the tape adaptor from my XM cradle and use it for my Ipod, and it sounds great.

Honestly, if there was a way to hook it up through a changer port or something more direct I would jump on it, but nothing is offered for the in-dash changer. It still sounds pretty good, but not quite CD quality.

iTrip in my area sucks and cassette doesn't give you clean bass..
i'm not tryna spend $100 bucks for a converter..
is there anyway we can hook it up by hardwiring it into the CD changer input with a connector of some sort..?

okay i checked in my trunk and yea, I do have a CD changer input behind the carpet underneath the amplifier... how is that supposed to connect to my iPod

beats me... you would need some sort of adapter. but at least you have a direct input on your head uint. i think PAC may make an adapter for mp3 players that use this input. if you take a look at the back of your headunit, what does the input look like? with most cd changer inputs, it looks like a coax cable connection.

DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT use a modulator. They such ballz real bad. Currently im just using a Tape for my IPOD and Sirius. FM Transmitters also suck pretty bad. Im thinking that anyone that has an Ipod or Sat radio in their car would probably care about their sound quality. And thus, the only way to get decent sound quality in a 00 max with the Bose Head is a tape (which sounds funny, considering). But as many are doing now, Im getting a Alpine CDA-9855 head and i can control my ipod and still have Digital Audio. Alpine is also making a VehicleHub thats pretty sweet which you can read about on their website www.alpine.com

Go to www.crutchfield.com. They have everything you can think of. They are a little pricey, but they give you complete installation instructions on everything they sell.
I would definitely stay away from the tape adapters, and wireless fm transmitters. They are horrible. The fm modulator that you hook up to the antenna isnt bad, but you have to buy antenna adapters and they dont sound alot better.
Using the cd changer port is the best way to go. Crutchfield sells them as well as many others. It plugs into the cd changer port one side of the box, the other side has L/R RCA jacks. From there you just need an RCA to mini-phono Y-cable. Plug that into the headphone jack on the ipod. Or you can get the Belkin Tune-Dock, which has a mini-phone jack on it and it plugs in the cigarette lighter. From there you hook into the ipod dock connector. This way you are not running on the ipod battery and the Tune-Dock has a volume level setting.
That is how mine is hooked up. But cd changer adaptor box requires a power hookup. One to the ignition and one to the battery. Through this I am getting alot of electical feedback from the alternator. It gives this clicking sound that is very noticeable. It might just be my car and not Maximas in general. I even have groud loop isolator which did nothing.
I have the same setup in my wife's Pilot. The box for the honda plugs just into the cd changer port and does not require a power hookup. It gets its power from the radio. Her's is crystal clear and sounds almost as good as a cd.

Ok!!! Listen, I have used a modulator and it was 30 for the antana cables and 40 for the modulator itself. The sound quality was equal to a fm transmitter which is significantly worse than that of the cassette.
Either you spent $300 dollars on doing it the right way with the Monster Icruze and Icruze Ipod Interface or use a freakin cassette which is a similar sound quality for $10 but its not as pretty.

i just bought a new video iPod and since they dont have an FM modulator for it yet i bought the tape adapter. i wouldnt get a modulator anyway. ive heard them in use on older iPods and they suck. the tape adapter is as clear as CDs would be. dont be fooled and buy the really expensive ones that are "made for iPods". they are all the same. some are over $20!! mine was around $5.
i didnt like the cord coming out since it got in the way when i was shifting. so i took out the headunit and removed the faceplate. i ran the wire between the unit and faceplate so it comes out the side. works like a charm.

You guys must have really nice tape players, because when I used a cassette adapter, there was hissing.
The sound is coming through the same head that reads cassettes. So i dont see how the sound can be any better than a good cassette.
As far as CD quality, nothing, mp3 and ipod included, sounds as good as compact discs.
