Problem with light for changing ignition color please help =)

I tried the mod of changing my ignition light...got down to coloring up the bulb looked great so I inserted the bulb to see it light up nice blue, but I wanted it a little darker. So I placed it back it and produce this really low red/orange glow(just as if the filament as hot). So I went to get replacement bulbs same problem. Did I damage the connection to the bulb if so how can I fix it? Any help would be totally appreciated.

What bulb # did you get? Should be a #74. Coloring the bulb with a sharpie will soonly fade fast causing discoloration.

Well the bulb doesn't even light up except this red/orange extremely faint light....I guess u can describe the look at when you stick a piece of metal in a really hot flame and it turn orangish/red......I got the 74 replacement bulb as well....
