drivin condions..good or bad?

ok, i see alot of maxima owners drivin around and notice they baby there cars as in, it doesn't look like they go over 3k rpms. i in turn everyday or every other floor mine on high and at take off.(bring mine to redline-auto). should i do this or should i drive like all the others do? and is that good to drive like that all the time?

It doesn't hurt to get on it from time to time, but you own the car you didn't rent it, so if you continually drive it like you don't own a bolt in it , you will pay in the long run!

Plus I trust you are not a major shareholder in Exxon!

All i have to say is that im a college student and dont have the money to be flooring it.

So i keep my max under 3K rpm all the time. (well it got me a record 26.3mpg on my last tank so im not complaining)

I'm scared of blowing the slushbox trans in mine, so I don't drive it hard often. Just sometimes.

I get on it often, not to redline usually. Its not good for a car to be babied all the time, you need to open her up a bit also.

However, as said above, its not good to beat on it either... I usually open it up on entrance ramps and take a few high speed passes, but I dont beat on the car.

I rarely shift under 4k, but I'm still kind of hooked on the power after coming out of 10 long months in an auto G20. I never get less than 27 mpg either. I don't go WOT that much, but I love to roll into the throttle and feel the speed build. I read somewhere that you would get the best fuel economy accelerating at 3/4 throttle and then holding a steady speed.

Once in a couple days is fine. Go to 4th gen forum where people own a little older cars and ask what mileage they got and how they drive their cars. Many of them got 200k on their odometers and they drive like the stole it.

I have always had a heavy foot, but I have always gotten better than average mileage. I got 20 MPG regularly in my '01 Pathfinder, 31 in my G20, and I get 2 MPG better than my wife in the Mountaineer (and she complains that I'm too aggressive.) And I drove my 4th gen like I stole it and sold it with 137k without ever having a problem.

You might want to quit driving it like you stole it once the extended warranty expires, if the vehicle lasts that long.
