nothing against you, but why do people assume that if someone has a certain year that they will have no idea about anything related to another year??

my 02 is a 6-speed (it says that right next to where you saw that i had an 02)
the 00 i had for 3 years was an auto. after talking to 3 service managers that i know very well and reading the service manual, i replaced my TCM.
i dont know what "reprogramming" that you say was done to your TCM.

I never said that you dont know anything about 00-01's... calm down. I just said I dont know if you cannot reprogram an 02+...

You might want to talk to those service managers again because mine was reprogrammed.... Nissan of North America even told me it can be reprogrammed; because there was a warranty issue. The dealer wanted to charge me for it while the car was under warranty.

I know you had a 00, I remeber when you got in the accident...

All I know is... I brought my car to my dealer because it was slipping even with a tranny flush, they reprogrammed the TCM and I have not had a problem since. So if they cannot reprogram the TCM would you please tell me what they did to fix my slipping problem in under a half hour?

well if you read the TSB for the slipping tranny issue it says "replace the transmission control module"

http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/tsb/NTB00-039a.pdf

your dealership must have had the fancy TSB

Just spoke to another mecanic friend... he works on Nissans all the time at his shop, according to him as well; it is really easy to reflash the tcm with the consult...

Here is a page from Nissan for the Consult II, it is all about new programs for ECM and TCM's... showing they can be programmed through the cousult tool!!!!

reflash IS NOT the same as reprogram.
you didnt get your TCM reprogrammed like you claimed at first. it was reflashed. reprogramming would fix the problem...but that CAN NOT BE DONE. your problem was not fixed and will come back. the only way to permanently fix the problem is to get the updated TCM.

the problem with the TCM is not software ralated. it is hardware related. it does not matter what you do with the software...the hardware causes the problem. the only way to fix the hardware is to buy the updated TCM. nissan made a new TCM with hardware that corrected the problem. that is why the TSB says to replace the TCM.

Well its been two years and 35k and it is fine... you sure about that??

Mine was reprogramed. LOOK AT THE FIGGIN NISSAN SITE!!! it says right on there for the consult tool; here I will make it simple for you...

From the Nissan web page:

Download CONSULT II Reprogramming File
In order to implement the latest ECM or TCM data, you'll need to download and install the CONSULT II ECM or TCM Program file. Select the Link below to download the CONSULT II program file which will need to be installed prior to downloading any ECM or TCM data.
Download CONSULT II Program(11.2MB) -No Cost

That is specifically for REPROGRAMMING ECM's and TCM's!!!!!

ok from the nissan site..does it say what the REPROGRAMMING does?? does it say it fixes the problem we are talking about? or is that just general programming?

Reprogram tipically refers to high level software update and flash to low level hardware EEPROM overwrite.
