so called hp chip?
so called hp chip?
on ebay I keep seeing this so called chip you can put in you car and it will give you up to 20hp. my only question is if it can give a car that much more power then why only sell it for 6-7 dollars.
"uses a resistance value of 3,700 ohms to override the sensor and signal the computer that it is receiving air at an optimal temperature of 60 degrees."
does anyone know about this? it says it only takes about five minutes to install and will not harm the car at all. says it will work with intakes and such. a little feedback would help...

Did you REALLY think it would work?
Use some common-sense, my friend.
It isn't a chip, it is actually a RESISTOR. And all it does is hook up to your air temperature piece to allow the engine to run like it is receiving cold air all of the time.
It is a POS that someone is making buck$$ off of.

To save you the trouble, it doesn't work.
You can achieve the same results by modifying your IAT sensor or coolant-temp to read low all the time. This forces the computer to stay in cold-start mode, which runs the engine rather rich to light off the pre-cats and cats faster for emissions. That's why your car has more get up and go when the engine is cold, and why the exhaust "smells" more strongly.
Continued running of your car in this mode may make you feel like you've got more power, but it will also destroy your cats in a hurry, and you won't be able to pass any emissions tests.
