Wondering if anyone who has gutted their cat can feel any difference.....if so, was it in the low end, high end or both? Is the gain even worth doing?
Tried the search, nothing came up..
Appreciate any inputs....

I don't recommend it. What happens when it comes time to pass emissions?? Your car will fail and oem replacement convertors are like $300-$400. You can get a Random Tech cat if they are available but then again you should do this from the get go and use the oem as a back-up. I have a gutted 3-gen cat for cheap if you want to try it. I don't know if it fits a 2k maxima or not.

BTW. Find anything new on the JET ecu?? Those guys ever give you a dyno sheet??

Yup I sure did.
I didn't feel any low end gains.
But at the high end I felt a little extra kick after second gear.

BTW you can always find crooked shops to do your inspection

U can't repleace the cat on a car that is not 5 years or older in the state of IL, U have to have shops estimate and legitamate explenation on WHY the cat went bad. Trust me been through this before, just had to put a cat on my SE-R to make it pass emissions here in IL.

Gutting a cat will not give U any more HP, it will make the nastiest sound and will make the car polute like crazy. I used to run no cat on my moded SE-R, now my SE-R has got some crazy top end power, no Maxima will touch it. And it didn't loose any HP by putting a CATCO cat on it. Random Tech is useless if U ask me, we on the SE-R list are all for cheap EFFECTIVE mods. This is why my SE-R looks stock but will terrorize the craziest Maxima out there, and since I own a Maxima 5spd I know what I'm talking about here. My SE-R passes emissions with flying colors too.

14.2@96.9MPH on ****ty Nitto 555Rs. Its got a ported intake manifold, and stock cams still... it weights 1000lbs less than a Max and makes as much power at the wheels as a stock 4th Gen... FYI. If U live in Chicago I will show U what my shoe box can do. Lets run at Route 66 I like drag racing, can't wait to see if I can turn a 15.1 bone stock in the Maxima. With some good tires...Slicks.

Don't sleep on the SE-R's dude But, SR20VQ30, don't sleep on the Maxima's either

SR20.. do you have any serious engine work done and are you N/A or do you have Turbo, NOS or wha? low 14s is very nice for just bolt ons Makes hell of a sleeper..

Also, what do you think of the newer SE-Rs? the 200SX ones? Can I get one of those into low 14s with just bolt ons just as easy?

thanks.
