Trunk Vibration, with Structual Expansion Foam. 56k BEWARE

Today I wanted to get rid of the vibrations of my trunk lid so i filled the top half except around the key hole and metal pully with structural expansion foam. the filler used in drywall repair. Anyone did that before

Trunk feels a lot more solid and heavier, drying right now so havent been able to test out.

No, you need to add a mass loader.

started to work on it today, didnt take pics, no more tape, no more bubbling out of stuff, seems to do the trick, tested it out, go no vibrations from lid, looking at doing a major over haul on the trunk bought some sheet metal to cut and cover the big holes in the trunk, should be nice when all done,

I used some professional grade foam they use to put in light poles to insulate them. not sure what its called but it maked a big differnce no big air pockets like normal foam. get day off tomorrow so gonna try work on it. the trunk go thump when you bang or close it in stead of the light ting vibration kinda sound.

A mass loader is a vibrational matt used to weigh a peice down in order to reduce flex. Like Chris said, check out the deadening sticky in the Audio forum.

It would look like this on the trunk...

be careful not to put too much where the top (outside of your trunk) gets defermed. there is some really strong expanding foam out there.

.

Notice no more holes, like the one above, posted by metal max. put sheet metal over the holes except the one where the lock is, and mechanism's inside.
