shorter shifter stalk on 6spd
i intalled a sts a few weeks ago and, it's great. however our shifter stalk is still about 1 foot long. i have seen some g35s and other sportier cars with shifter stalk that's only about 3 inches long. has anyone made a shorter shifter stalk with the reversse lock-out still functional?
i imagine you could take it out of the ball socket, cut the metal, and weld it back to retain the reverse-lock out.
i was hoping there is an aftermaket part that is just a shorter peice all together.

CUT THE SHIFTER! Maximas are such great cars. I've always thought them to have some sport mixed with class. Don't go cutting some **** like it was a 92 Integra LS. Treat your car right.

20th_maxstyle,
If you see what Harvey did in the threads I posted above, you'll see that he did a very clean, classy job on it. I don't consider that not treating the car right at all. To each his own I guess.

thanks for the linx. loox like ppl cut their plastick lock-out peice. i am going to see if there is a way to keep it the same lenth, and cut the metal stalk itself. i am going to see if i can re-thread it, and re-drill the hole for the cotter pin for reverse-lock out.
btw, es shifter bushings rock. it has made my shifts much less "mushy", and not hard to get into gears at all. it feels very precise and "lubricated" now. definite recommend to anyone with a 6spd.

I have the custom STS on my car....also added redline mt90 in the tranny...and did the white lithium grease mod....the shifting is simply amazing....and i aint complaining about the stock ride height either....having it that low like in the threads above, might be too sporty IMO
