problem with starter

I've got an 02 max and I believe my starter is going out. I've taken it to Nissan several times and it starts for them everytime so they say we can't fix what is not broken. It doesn't do it all the time but after a long drive (30min +) or spirited driving thats is when it acts up. So i have to turn the ignition several times rapidly. My guess is the soleniod on the starter is not functioning properly? Has anyone else had this problem or have had there starter replaced?

i presume since youve taken it ot the dealer several times, your under warranty of comfortable with the svc dept.

take it for a drive, get it to act up before you bring it in. pull up on the drive, get it to act up, SHOW the svc advisor. tell them you dont want it back until its fixed.

Yep, be mean to them....they mostly wont listen if your underwarranty and cant prove something is acting up. Theyll take ur car in real quick so it wont cause a scene at teh service department...ha

yea i have that problem too.. its making this loud scratchy sound or something. but thats not my main problem.. since i cant post a new thread someone help please. the other day i went to buy gas and i think the a$$hole drop something in my gas tank, and he left my gas cap loose. on my drive home when i was braking, the engine just stalled. it happens now too, so i always gotta keep my foot on brake, gas, and its hard as hell for me to switch gears cuz im always worrying about the stall. what can i do to drain the tank or something? im thinking the guy put a cigarette butt or gum or something. hopefully it doesnt mess up the fuel pump or get into lines and injectors

well the starter problem you are describing is not the problem im having. what it sounds like is the teeth on your starter are grinding or if you have had a new one put on before they might not have put the spacer shims on or its loose. the problem about your fuel seems like a fuel system problem which could be a clogged fuel filter, injector, or even fuel pump. if something were to fall down the filler tube and in your tank it would'nt be a problem cause you filter would stop it from entering the system. i would recommend taking it to a shop and getting it checked out.

ok thanks k2max. ill check the starter tomorrow. i know theres a fuel system problem, but i've read that the filter is in the tank, and i dont have time to take that apart, and its not like i really want to either cuz im an entry level tech! im also trying to find the IAC motor, or idle air control valve. wanna check to see if its clogged up or not, cuz if it is, that could also be the problem. if anyone knows please respond!
