O2 Sensor problems....
Hey guys, I posted a while back that my gf's 2000 GLE with 100k miles had the P0420 code. So after reading posts, I decided to buy an O2 simulator so it would pass the inspection. I was told by my mechanic that I need an additonal O2 simulator as there was another secondary O2 sensor. I thought my gf's max was Fed spec but apparantely its not, when I checked there were 4 connetions for the O2 sockets in front of the engine (can any one confirm thats the right way?) After checking the FAQ's I believe if #3 and #4 are the only ones in place then its FED spec, other wise its Cali spec (all 4 have connections).
So now after the ECU reset, the light came back on for P0138 and P0139. I thought the O2 simulators would get rid of the O2 sensor codes all together but it hasnt. Now I want to know whether the O2 simulators are working as they should or they are not installed right some how. I dont have a problem replacing both of the O2 sensors as her car is over due for inspection. Any one have ideas of what to do and what to look for? Should I replace both of the secondary 02 sensors and hope the ECU falls asleep finally?
I am happy that the P0420 code went away but now we are facing 2 new codes.

What if you reset ECu, and go get inspection done? Is there a way for them to know you had the code before, but once you reset it , it clears out??? I have the same issue with P0430. I need inspection next month, so if I just unplug battery and then drive for about 100 miles and go for inspection, cause usualy light comes on in about 200-250 miles.

Unplugging/resetting the ECU just before going for inspection, the vehicle will not pass. The status will be "NOT READY" The ECU takes a while to reset driving around with a mix of highway and city driving.

Well guys, autozone reset the light last night and this afternoon she took it in to get inspected and it passed!
So now lets see if the light comes on again, if it does then I will have to do with the same issue next year.
