Service engine soon reminder?
Service engine soon reminder?
I'm around 73700 miles or so. And on my way to work this morning the service engine soon light came on. Solid, not flashing. Car I think had warmed up before the light came on, wasnt an instant when I turned the car on.
Are their any reminders in the car that cause the light to come on as you get close to scheduled mantaince windows? Like 75k?
I drive a 2000 Black GLE Maxima. Car feels fine, no funny smells, no weird sounds but I need to look in to things more. Its starting to get cold here in Ohio so I'm thinking maybe it could be related to that? I drove it another 20 miles. Turned it off (let it sit 2 hrs) then drove another 20 miles. Light is still on, any thoughts?
Where is a free place I can get the codes pulled perhaps to further diagonis the problem? Autozone or something? Isnt their a place that'll do it free or cheap other then the dealership?
Thanks guys

Nissan does not use this as a reminder for maintenance.
It is an indication of a real problem, usually with your emission equipment.
Obviously not something that would keep you from driving the car, but it should be checked out. Yes, AutoZone can pull the codes for you.

Don't be surprised if it is the age old "Ignition Coils" problem every other 2000 owner has encountered.
Sorry I can't remember the error code but you can get it through Autozone. Do a search on it in the forum and you'll be sure to find enough reading for the next three days.
Good luck hopefully it's not your problem.
