Symptoms don not math with the code HELP
Symptoms don not match with the code HELP
For the last couple of weeks I noticed that sometimes if the car idles for a long time (like 30 seconds) the RPM would drop to about 500 – 550. I also noticed a slight decrease in power. Today, in the morning everything was fine but when I started it in the afternoon it gave me the SES light. The code that I got is P0305.
Couple of months ago I had the same symptoms except the power loss was much grater, the code I got back than was P0171. The problem was solved by cleaning injectors, replacing MAF and one O2 sensor.
What do you people think the problem is now?
Thanks in advance.

Just read what I wrote, I got the codes, I know what they mean, how the @#$@ is your #$@$ post ganna help…?
I did not mention what the codes mean because those who will really be able to help know that they mean anyways. Just for you: P0305 – misfire in cylinder # 5 P0171 – fuel injection system lean (right bank)

btw, when someone post you a serious reply, don't kick it back in their face like an a$$.

How can it be a serious reply when I am directed to the page which explains something that every newbie knows about, and what I have done already. There are many threads which could have been avoided if the people searched. This is not one of those threads and the problem is not that simple.

how old are your coils?

BTW: if it makes any difference, CEL came on at the startup, the engine was still worm though.
do you have an oil based air filter? if so, id do MAF (or at least take a good look at it) and coils. depending on mileage, possibly plugs too.
otherwise do the coils first and see what happens.

No, I have a standard paper filter. Is it possible that this misfire is a one-time thing and it won’t be repeating, while MAF is just about to die so it does not show any codes yet?
BTW: it there a way to check coils without getting the new ones, maybe with voltmeter or something…?

Guys, a little update on my situation, today I went to the different AutoZone to clear the light and to make sure that the code they told me is correct. Surprisingly the guy pulled the different code... P1320 "ignition signal primary circuit fault" So right know I feel like going to the third AutoZone lol

I never changed coils and in fact I don't even know how exactly they work, but I was thinking, is it possible to try cleaning them? Maybe a bad coil is nothing more than just a dirty coil where dirt create a short circuit, what do you guys think?
Replace that #5 cylinder coil. I had the exact problem on mine recently along with the 1320 code. P0305 also a good indication to change out that coil as well. The lean code or condition most likely MAF related but fix the coil 1st and try it out. goodluck!

Is there even a chance of fixing the problem by cleaning the coil? The reason I'm asking is because finals are approaching and I'm sort of busy studying, but at the same time i don't feel like spending money on something that could be fixed without "financial inputs"
It's your coil. Replace the failed one. Replacing all 6 is the PROPER fix. Usually you'll get an 0300 in there also (Multiple cyl. misfire.)
Also, the lean condition code is most often caused by MAF or O2 sensors which you have correctly diagnosed and replaced.
Bewst is right. You can't "clean" COP-style ignition coils. They're entirely electronic component devices and when one of the components fails the whole thing is shot and needs to be replaced.

got it, I'm ganna wait a couple more weeks to see how my engine behaves in order to make sure that it's indeed the coils and then replace the one that gives me problems. (Can't replace all 6 - $$$
