digital rear view install write up??

Disclaimer: i have searched for the past 2 hours and cant find anything on a write up.

Im looking for meaningless but cool things to upgrade my base model 02 se and i definetly like the look of the digital rear view mirrior. How hard is the install for something like that plug and play or too much wiring and not worth the trouble??

Thanks.

Digital rearview mirror? Are you talking about the digital compass in the rearview?

it is direct plug and play, just unscrew the tock mirror off and slide the compass titanium edition mirror on, and plug in the same stock wireing harness.

I think he has a plain old mirror on base models like stated. (no wiring at all) and would like to know how many wires will need to be run up there. I also could use that information since i have the boring stock mirror with no power at all.

The auto dim mirrors only need a two wire hook-up...power and ground. Same goes for the ones with compass. The ones with temperature need a sensor probe which requires another two wire hookup. Cars, such as mine, did not come with auto dim. I had to run wires for power, ground, and sensor for mine to function. It's best to tap into ignition for power so that mirror powers all the time while car is on.

i'm on the same boat as you. 2000 max with nothing on the rear view.

so you have auto dim, compass, and temp sensor???

what was included with your rearview mirror??? or did you do a "custom" wiring?

Yes, I had to custom and re-wire everything including running a temp. sensor for my mirror. Look at my pic in post #13. There were no wiring for plug-n-play since my car came with just a plain rear view mirror.

He has an 02 max, and im almost 100% positive they all came with the auto dim mirror meaning he wouldnt need to run any wires. I dont know off hand how many wires though...

If the green light is on on the mirror, it will auto dim, if you push the mirror button , and the green light goes off, it will not auto dim, and if you have this autodim mirror stock, the compass/autodim mirror is a direct replacement.
