Light bulb question

There are two reasons I’m asking this question. First is because I am thinking of installing some new light bulbs and second, because virtually every link in stickies related to lighting is broken. So I figured it might be a good idea to start another thread on this topic even though it might sound that it’s a repost. So here are the questions.

1. What do the numbers like: 9006, H3, H4, etc mean?
2. Do I need to buy separate bulbs for the high beams?
3. How hard is it to change the bulbs? (don’t explain how, just how long it takes and whether it can be done by someone who’s not a professional)
4. What’s the light output for the stock head/fog lights?
5. Do the fog lights use the same bulbs as the headlights?

This should answer some, if not most of your questions:

You can change your headlights and fogs in under an hour altogether using the owner's manual and service manual for directions if necessary.

1) just means different type of plug. cant' put an H4 bulb into a 9006 hole. also harness will not attach. why not make one standard? car companies are the g@y.

2) depends on the type of headlights. i'm answering in a general sense. dual filament bulbs are bulbs with 2 light sources (filaments) within. on regular, 1 filament lights up, and on high (or pressing your brakes) the 2nd filament lights up. for your 2k, i actually have no idea. for 2k2's, we have 2 toally seperate bulbs, one to handle low beam, another to handle high beam.

3) it is rather simple. in all seriousnes, it should not take you longer than 5 minutes. NOT EVEN that long. it is, in the literal sense, unplug, plug. done. fogs may take longer as where they are located and because you need to remove the housing, but the actual process of swapping the bulb, also another minute or so.

4)55w head/ 55w fog

5) fogs are H3, so no.

PoLo pretty much summed it all up, but as far as changing the headlight bulbs - I'm 17, I've never worked on a car in my life, I'm not particularly mechanically inclined, and I changed my headlights in my 2k in about 5 minutes with no write up or anything. Just take a look under the hood and you'll see what I mean.
