Lube vs Grease.

Lube vs Grease.
Is there a difference? I have a buzzing starter, so I bought "Engine Assembly Lube" thinking this was what I needed. But I've taken the starter out twice and it still buzzes. Is it my starter or do I have the grease(of course if there is a difference?
