stock headlight problem - HELP -

I have no right low beam headlight when I turn the headlights on. I think this is due to the daytime running light module (Canadian car) gone defective. The high beam works fine on both sides. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this without buying a new module from the dealer for $275.00?? Any suggestions for used parts??
Thanks, Martin

My understanding of the stock headlight bulb is that it uses two filaments, one for high beam and another for low beam. I would try swapping your right and left bulbs and see if the problem follows the bulb, and if so, buy a new bulb.

Hi, I should have mentioned that the bulb is not the problem as it works on the other side. I believe this is a CDN problem as the US does not use daytime running lights, as far as I know. However I am still hopeful someone knows where to get a cheaper part.

I think that I have had the same problem. One headlight is on High Beam, while the other one is on Low Beam. I tried everything to fix this issue. I checked all the relays, the fuses, and the bulbs. The only way i figured to solve the problem was to unplug one of the wires that goes into the headlight. It is a 3-prong plug that attaches to the back of the headlight. One of those is for the high beam, just unplug it and you are good to go. ( I just pulled it out of the socket and taped it so it is not exposed) This does not fix the problem, but at least you are not blinding people when you drive. I am still looking for a way to fix it, but I have no other ideas.
I have noticed this alot while driving, many cars have one light on high beam and one on low. I wish I knew what did it.
My car is a 00 gxe, no daytime running lights.

if you checked the bulb and it is fine.. check the wire harness.... that could be the problem.....

i had a wierd thing go on with my lights, i could use my fogs with the highs, but only when the ballast for my heads were grounded. but the high would only come on with the ballast that was grounded, unground it and everything went back to normal.

my advice see if theres anything grounded that shoudlnt be, its easy to ground soemhting on our cars apparently

My car came with DRLs and I eliminated them by removing the fuse for it. Check that and maybe remove it.

Yep, locate and remove the DRL fuse and you'll know if the DRL's are the problem. I would probably just remove it anyway.

lights

Have the same problem with my 01(canadian), taken out the fuse does not help. The module has to be replaced. I would go with OEM as used parts might develop the same problem with no warranty.

Yeah it is the wiring harness. Mine did the exact same thing and the problem was bad wiring at the headlights.. the plugs into the back of the lights were starting to fudge up. Got everything re-wired and the problem fixed for $200.
