I just ordered some new bulbs for my car. I got the H4's for the headlights and the H3's for the fogs. I am looking at the package and the wattage listed on the box has me concerned.

The box says that both sets are 100/80w. Will these melt my wiring harness. I know that they both are above the listed wattage from nissan, but didn't know if they'd kill my car or not. I ordered them off ebay (i know big mistake) and the auction said they were for a nissan maxima 00-01 make. That's my point of confusion, since the wattage was not listed on the auction description.

Thanks

hmmm...you may get away with using them for the short term, but in the long term, who knows

Don't put them on, it will melt all your wires over the time. the stock one is 55w.

Going over the recommended wattage can be dangerous as in a fire, or costly as in a harness or new wiring. Obviously the less you go over the less risk, but I wouldn't chance it.

agreed with everyone. if you REALLY want to, you can get the extra harness from American Parts Company (APC) if you want to overwatt. thing is, i have a feeling that the bulbs will still be too hot for the housing. could be wrong, tho. good luck.
