Could struts go bad after repair?

I had to have the trans/diff bearings replaced in my 00' 5spd. WhenI got the car back the struts are apparently all of the sudden bad. @ 66k miles? Could the car being suspend for 3-4 days with the struts fully extended caused them to go bad?

Also, replacing them looks like the KYB's are the cheapest replacements @ $110. Any thoughts on them or other replacements?

For OEM replacements:

KYB GR-2
Tokico HP (Blues)

Look on ebay, 5th Gen Classifieds, www.sportcompactonly.com, www.redlinemax.com, or even Google for better deals...

the struts are never fully extended when u have ur car on the ground. they are at spring/coil height. im not sure but there are ways to refill the strut oils, though i don't really recommend it. but all struts do is give a more comfortable ride.
