Those at @100k miles what problems have you had?
I would like to see how many problems other people have with their cars once they hit 100k miles.
Just list what you have replaced due to failure, not maintenance items.
I have around 96k, and so far i replaced:
-4 rotors ( warped very early)
-muffler (old one rusted at 65k)
-main cat ( at 65k)
-6 iginition coils
-several O2 sensors
-alternator
-shocks (old ones blown)
-rear brake piston
-maf

135K miles
4th clutch now- 1st smoked by exfiance learning stick, 2 ACTs which had failed PPlates.
6th MAF now- 1st 4 got killed in very short life, few of em lasted just a week.
6 coils- not needed but I repleaced them at 60K when doing plugs
4 new rear wheel bearings- and they are howling again now
3 sets of OEM front rotors- thanks to OEM Nissan pads- rears are still original at 135
2 rear calipers- both froze not too long ago- got new ones hanging here.
1 slave cylinder
1 pass side axle
1 transrebuild by me at 68K miles- 4th gear blew apart
1 trans repleaced at 100K miles, nothing wrong but my Xtended warranty was runing out- they wouldn't cover my 4th gear blown up thou
ES bushings- all around to repleace worn OEM rubber bushings
3 drive belt tensioners- bearings got too noisy
1 VIAS intake which broke beyond repair- done at the same time as the tranny, 100K.
1 O2 sensor, wires got chewed up while offroading durring camping trip.
Still loving it

all these things makes maximas seem not all that reliable, i guess my problems have been very similar to everyone elses.

Reliable... Rotors, alternators, coils, MAF, O2s are all minor problems IMO. These parts are standard maintenace items in my books. All cars are the same way, they all have their weaknesses and it is their strengths that set them apart. This is an 8th car I owned (1st Nissan) and I can tell you that it is slightly better in terms of reliability than all others I had so far...

2K Maxima GXE @ 90K miles:
1. Replaced 6 ignition coils in 2001. They were replaced with 2K1 coils which also went bad, so in all, I've bought 12 ignition coils.
2. Two O2 sensors
Maintenance:
1. Front brake pads, (had rotors resurfaced. I've had no warpage problems)
2. Drive belt and spark plugs at 75K
-I Need to replace my struts...Everything else has run like a champ. One thing would be to note that Nissan manual trannies are MUCH better and more reliable than their auto's

i have 130k miles on my car..
things that were replaced along the way
auto tranny was toasted, swapped to 5speed.
transmission control module needed to be updated.
AC fan blower replaced twice
rotors warped-switched to 300zx then to AP big brakes
6 coils replaced
strut bearings went bad switched to JIC flt a2
ecu needed to be reflashed to clear the p0420 code (3way cat failure)
that's pretty much all i can think of for now

2K Max with 77K
- 6 coils (2 went bad), replaced remaining 4 along with plugs
- MAF, probably need a second one as of today (just got cel this morning, but same symptoms as before)
- new rotors
- transmission control module
- exhaust from cat back
- starter (not yet replaced - regreased once a few years ago, starting to whine again in cold weather)
- bad heater switch for driver's seat (bulb)
- VIAS, have yet to replace but I'm pretty sure it's shot
too many problems for me.

123k 2000 SE
6 ignition coils
Spark plugs
MAF
Thermostat
Radiator Fan
Alternator and Battery (Both died at same time)
AC Blower Motor
So about $1000 parts for 123k miles... isn't bad.
Although I think I'm about due for rotors, pads, and shocks.

2000 Max SE 5SPD Green with 156k (fully loaded/nogps)
- 2nd Clutch
- A/C Compressor
- Cup holder sliding cover bracket broke (?)
No coil issues, maybe previous owner got it. My driving is nothing but all highway hence the clutch has been lasting more than 60k each time. Never warped any discs either. I don't know if too much babying and never over 4k rpm helps but no problems ever.
1996 Max GLE Black Auto with 130k (fully loaded/nogps)
- No engine or transmission trouble ever
- Regular brake changes
- Passenger side wheel hub/bearing (slipped/hit curb in snow)
- Rear Spoiler holes started rusting and made the trunk messy. Got a new one and had the spoiler drilled holes water proofed with extra rubber sealants.

2001 SE - 125K
I'm feelin' lucky after seeing some of the other posts!
4 rotors
IACV/TB (after I cleaned the TB)
Heater Blower Motor
Fan Amp
P0420 programming fix
Just got another P0420 - I guess maybe an O2 sensor or the cat is going.

2k SE 5sp @105k miles
- One MAF
- One O2
- Sun visor thing broke off so I superglued it.
- Currently have CEL light on that I've been ignoring for the past 3 years. It just needs ECU update but I refuse to pay Ni$$an to do it.
- My battery died this summer but I brought it back to life by adding lots of water. So good so far...

Wheel bearings go bad from either abuse or curb hits or very very crappy road. This is only true for most of the cases but not all. As the time passes, it may create a play which you can feel by simply rotating the wheel and a rubbing noise will start to get louder. However, if you have alloy wheels, they usually will take most of the force and in some cases will be the first to break/crack before the hub/bearing...
