Maxima Totaled! - New Pics

Well, not really totalled. But I am looking at nearly $12K in repairs. I guy stopped short on me in the rain and I ended up rear ending him. The airbags were deployed, the hood is folded up and I think the radiator is f'ed too, but other the damage in the pics nothing else is wrong with it (of course there the other stuff under the hood that contributed to my $12K repair bill). How much do you guys think I could get for the car the way it is? Thanks for the input.

That doesn't look like 12K in damages to me, you can get high mileage 2002 for 12K, I think.

Do you have a list of what has to be done?

Yeah, sorry about the poor pics, they were taken the night of the accident and the car has been in the shop ever since. I'm being a sent a copy of the damages, I'll be sure to post as soon as I can. I was told a lot of the cost is being attributed to the airbags being delpoyed and and the on-board computer.

yea, airbags cost at least 1000 each, depending on year and model of car.

well, i got my 2000 that was in a front end collision and repaired from my buddy with 80k miles for $6200. i find it a good deal on my part. im not sure how much he got it for and cost of repairs, but he drove it for about a year.
edit: this is w/o airbags. saves me a good $2000.

I'm headed out to have it towed from the shop this morning. I'm probably just going to sell it the way it is. Hopefully, I'll be able to post a list of the damages tonight. Thanks for the input everyone.

Damn, sorry about the loss there. My 02 was totaled last week. Pics of her are here: http://www.verastar.com/WebSite/Deta...x?recid=383357 . It is at the auction now, so it is definitely gone. From the pics you showed, the damage looks to be mostly interior. It is amazing how much damage there can be with even a minor impact. 12k worth of damage and the insurance is not going to total the car? Or is it going to be totaled and you have the option to buy it back? I know my 02 w/43k miles is worth high 14s at the most, so 12k worth of damage doesn't seem worth fixing.

No where near 12,000. When they totalled my 02 max i had a front end collison and i didn't even need new headlights, but the tranny was damaged, the engine mounts toast, bumper/hood/both airbags, sunroof won't open, radiator done, all the plastic covers under the car ripped to hell. The total damage was over 13,000 and the insurance co said screw it but just barely. They almost repaired it but i wasn't gonna be a happy camper and i told them that so the called it a total loss. But your car is no where near that damaged. Probably 8,000 cause airbag work is expensive.

You guys were right, it was about $7K in damages the rest was attributed to labor. The list is posted on Car Domain. If anyone is interested in buying it as-is, shoot me an offer. If there are no takers on the .ORG than I'll be posting it on eBay sometime next week. Thanks again everyone.

Are you going to sell your car and just take the insurance check? The guy that hit you is going to get a nice hike in insurance premiums after that. If you sell it I want your clear corners, PM me.

It sucks to be in an accident. My old Galant looked similar when a girl ran a stop sign at a blind intersection and I t-boned her @ 40mph. Take some pics of the radiator support, engine bay and gaps between the fenders and front doors, but so far your car does not look totaled.

for $1k to $1.5k you probably own a body shop/junk yard or get free parts/free labor. Still gonna cost you more then $1.5k.

I don't know man, mine looked worse then that and I fixed it for only 1K. Perhaps that's because we did some work by ourselfs.

What did you do about the airbags being blown, or the front two seat belts being locked up? Just live with it?
