Heater Blower Noise!!! HELP!!!!

Ok, one of our maxima's has the same problem I had with mine like a year ago. I thought it was only my car that suffered from the ticking/loud vibrations that you hear from the heater when you turn it on full blast, but our 2k has the same problem. I was looking up TSB's on All-data, and I think they have the one I need, but I'm not sure. It's titled AC blower noise...I'm not sure what the number is but I know someone posted about it on here before. My first guess as to what's causing the noise, is that there's something wound around the fan, but I have no idea how to get to the fan. If you guys can help me by letting me know how to get to the fan, or what the actual problem is, that would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

the tsb fix was a waste of time in my experience. they installed a plastic shield around the blower motor to cut down on noise but it seemed to only help slightly.

how do you get to the fan? I'm pretty sure all I have to do is clean it...did yours have the loud noise, or just the ticking. It's not the ticking that were having problems with, rather its the loud noise on setting 3 and 4. It vibrates the whole dash. I just want to know how to access the fan and I can't seem to find any directions for it here on the website.

i would think remove the glovebox like you were replacing the cabin filter and the motor should be accesible. mine was just the ticking noise when on 1-2 speed. the cabin filter how to should be up top and if not is available at courtesyparts.com under the cabin filter for 5th gens.

i had this probelm on my 2002, basically 3 screws you can remove the blower moter fan from the passenger side undeneath, it helps if you have an FSM to see the pic. once you haev it off lubricate the bearing with WD-40 and problem solved. let me know if oyu have any questions.

Im actually on my way to pickup my car at the dealership for this problem. For the 4th time now they tell me there is debris in the motor area and now since im at 44K miles its gonna cost me $135.00. Im absolutly bent, I keep telling them that something is wrong with the motor and they keep telling me that there is debris in there. When I turn the wheel to the left it makes noise when I turn to the right it almost goes away. Anyone ever found any debris in there?

Do a search. But here's the problem: the blower motor has sleeve bearings, not ball bearings. They suck period. The bearings wear out over time and cause a rattle at first because the motor shaft is loose. Later you'll get a loud screeching sound. I tried to lub mine, but the noise just came back. I eventually found one at a junkyard and just replaced the fan assembly. $60 or so.

Thanks for the Info. I picked up the car last night and fought with these guys telling them its not debris for the 4th time and sure enough im halfway home and the noise came back. I called in to the dealership this morning and there shocked thats it back already go figure. Well I will tell them what you mentioned, one way or another its going back. Hopefully now they realize there's a problem other than debris in there.

I changed my blower motor on my 44k mile Infiniti i35. There must have been an entire cellophane Ramen wrapper in there along with a ton of dried leaves. This problem comes up over and over again, debris in the fan motor... but how does the debris get there? Mice are definitely NOT partying under my dash with Ramen...
