Dealers charge about $50 for an in cabin air filter. Will a filter from home depot that is used on furnaces and air vents work just as well? I was thinking of just cutting it to the right size.

I believe someone cut up a 3M Filtrette from Home Depot to size and it worked fine.

Wonder why they charge so much if it is just as any other filters.

You'd think some company like FRAM would make them and sell them for like $20. They'd make a killing.

He actually has a point. As long as people keep buying em at 50 bucks, they'll keep selling em at 50 bucks. I wish had the original one that came with the car, because that one is washable, while these 2 piece replacement ones aren't (at least, I haven't tried).
