What an OPTIMA difference....

I finally purchased an optima red top battery to replace my stock one as Winter is here and I did not want to have that same battery for a 4th year. All I can say is wow! Such a fast startup. I wanted to take a sound clip of a before and after, but I was too lazy. My fog lights look brighter as well as my interior gauges. Not tremendously, but definitely brighter.

I never understood why people upgraded their batteries for reasons other than to support a sound system. The big difference is just initial startup power right? Are there any other positives? Thanks

i have stock battery and low distilled water volume. My lights dim when the system is blasting and i see my headlights dim as well. I'm in need of an upgrade but gonna fill with water first to see how that goes. I'm guessing any distilled water will do? pathmark or quick check brand

Well, when you look at the price, the regular battery cost around $60 bucks and the Optima Red Top around $110, it may not seem worthy, but you do get more cranking amps, and it's new technology, the optima battery doesn't have the acid splashing inside...
But basically it is your call, of course the regular battery will work and will do what it's supposed to.
The Optima is of course better, so if you have the money then why not upgrade...

better quality. you don't want your battery dying somewhere where there's no one else miles around

The battery provides voltage regulation. Without it, the bus voltage in your vehicle may exceed the working voltage of many electronics in your vehicle. Cars today have many digital electronics that are susceptible to voltage spikes and are often not well equipped to handle them. With a crappy battery, you could easily destroy the engine computer or your expensive music system for example.

If cost doesn't matter...Yellow top for sure...and since you have a system, the yellow will benefit you the most

After 1.5yrs of owning my red top...it has no signs of wearing down...Every morning it fires up like the day I bought it...literally effortless....even with many hrs of having the radio on without the car being on...it still fires up wonderfully....

I've had my yellow top 34D- largest one they sell, in my Maxima for a year now. It fires up just fine but it doesn't put out near the cold cranking amps it did a year ago. It actually doesn't fire up as fast as it used to eighter. Last time I tested it at work with our trusty battery tester- it failed to put out the claimed 870 cold cranking amps at 32F with only 510 avalible.... I need to speak with someone over at Remy Battery where I got mine from about a repleacement. It doesn't fire the car up with authority like it used too.

another great reason to get an optima is if you're planning to relocate it to the trunk or wherever. safe to put in any position

My friend has had 3 optima batteries. The first lasted 10 months and suddenly died. Got it replaced under warranty and used it for 6 months, died again! Third battery, the company sold it for half the price, and guess what, died again. Checked his altenator, it is fine. He drives an integra. The battery was a yellow top though.

I dont know about dry cell car batteries.

I've had my yellow top for a week now. Car starts instantly these cold mornings.

Edge - D35 is the size closest to the OEM battery. It's shorter overall, but optima provides an extra plastic piece that will raise it back up to the right height for the terminal connections.
