engine almost died

Yesterday I had started my car with my remote and then went outside about 5 min. later. When i got to my car i heard it runnign fine and then it started loping and sounded like it almost died. when i got in the car it was idleing fine again. right before i took almost it started doing it again and i saw my RPM's jumping around. so after that i took it out for a drive and it ran just like normal. anyone have any ideas?

Since your's is a 2000 model like mine, I would say it's probably a coil issue. The same thing happened to my car last winter. A few weeks later, my SES light came on and I had to replace all the coils. Since then, my car never acted up like that again. I would also say if it's not a coil issue, maybe a bad MAF sensor?

I bought my 2000 GLE 3 months ago adn I dont have any past records, so I am not sure if the coils have been changed. Does anyone know if there is a way to know if they have been changed? I have never experienced any problems that people have when they go out. I also have 105,000 miles, so it might have been already done??

You're better off changing all 6 at one time. It will save you problems down the line. Buy the newly updated ones. Install them yourself to save you money from the dealer. The dealer charges you a fortune to replace them.

I had coil problems too. I have a 2000 Maxima GLE with 68,000 miles. The SES kept coming on and the mechanic I have kept turning it off for me because the car was running fine. He finally took the car apart and found that 3 of the coils were bad, so he replaced them. He said the other 3 were fine. But the SES light is still on! And, the TCS and SLIP lights also come on sporadically. The car sometimes feels like it's going to stall, but it doesn't. It's fairly subtle.
