LED bulbs in taillights

I put in some LED bulbs in my taillights and now i have the warning light on the dash lit up telling me that i have no taillights but everything works fine... is it because LEDs take up so little juice that the car thinks its missing the bulbs or is there a different problem?? Thanks guys!

thats right, the electrical pull of the LED bulb is very low, therefore the system thinks that the the bulb is either missing or blown, you need to get a resistor that connects between the LED bulb and the socket so that there is a higher load and then ur problem will be solved

Not trying to thread jack, but how do you like the led tailights compared to oem? I saw some on autolumination.com and was just curious.

if you get the multiple led ones with side-firing led, it should be ok. i just got the ones that shine straight back with 9 leds, and it sux on light output. i am about to get different ones that would shine back+sideways on the reflector and generate more usable light when backing up.
there are great deals on ebay for these. i think the store i used was autoilluminations. they are very good on customer service and shipping is fast.

My friend was experimenting with these LED bulbs in the tails. No matter which ones you get (the side firing LEDS or whatever) the light output will be LOW. Trust me my friend tried a bunch, he tried one with I think like 20 LEDS or something and still the light output was low. They just dont properly reflect as the filament bulbs do.
