Rpm Needle Holds Steady At 1800 -2000

I have a problem with my 01 AE auto max, it seems at about 40 -50 mph the rpm needle sticks at about 1800 - 2000 and when i let off the gas it goes down very very slowly. I've noticed before when i was at 40 50 mph and let off the gas the rpm needle would jump back down to its normal position at about 1000 -1200 rpm or so. Not too sure what the problem can be! Tranny seems like it upshifts and downshifts fine. No CEL came on! I'm just concerned because at 50mph when I let off the gas the rpm takes forever to drop down even when applying the brakes to stop, but again no jerking on the car! Any ideas on what this can be or has anyone else encountered this on their Max?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Joe
