I was wondering I was recently givin some RED LED lights by some noname company that can be used in interior lighting.
I want to wire them up in my foot wells of both the passanger and the driver side area so it lights up when the doors are opened.
What is needed to do that? Would I need to buy a relay?
or could i just tap directly into the wires? '
Where would I do that and what colors would they be?
any suggestions.

You could splice into the lines since a second light will not fully mitigate current flow to the door lights.
Mind if I see a pic of this item?

i would say to just tap in the light switch on the door. so when you open the door the interior light and the floor panel lights would come onOriginally Posted by siren001

Ugh. That's going to be a real PITA. With 4LEDs you would need to wire them in series in order to get the full output @ 20mA, however those assemblies come pre-loaded with resistors. I would just recommend getting a CCFL kit (about $10), and use that instead. Otherwise, I would highly recommend running a relay and tap from an unused 12V source for them.
ive used those before for interior floor lighting, exactly what your doing for the driver and passenger, but in white...after a while the stick stuff fell off and it got in the way of driving. but you could just run the wire through the door and tap into the floor light like someone else said up there....red pos black neg...not too hard, i did that for my cold cathode in my trunk...if you open any door that light will turn on. But like metal said cold cathode will be much brighter and more even lighting on the floor. i may do cold cathode later if i wanna randomly buy somethin. good luck!!!

On another note, worklog update tonight.
The next 2 days will be spent on the cluster. You ain't seen nothing yet. This thing is going to f'ucking blow your mind.

Where the wire come into the car for the floor lighting? So that i can tap into it?
Isnt a CCFL the same thing as a 12in or so Neon? I forget whos page it was but someone had blue footwell lights and that looked really nice.
